Bali Hai was part of a larger restaurant called Ports of Call, which featured many differently-themed rooms, one of which was a Polynesian area called Bali Hai. Ports of Call operated from 1963 until 1975, then became “The Ports” and ran until 1983 — and Bali Hai likely didn’t survive that transition. The building was demolished in 1983 to make way for office buildings.
Worth noting that Denver had a few other tiki moments worth knowing about: Tiki Boyd’s ran from 2005 to 2006 in the Ramada Denver Downtown — designed by experimental musician Boyd Rice, who stocked it with pieces from his personal tiki art collection. And of course Adrift on South Broadway has been carrying the torch since 2011.
